Imagine living in a country where your leader was not elected by a majority of the registered voters, but was installed as president just the same. Where that leader unilaterally invades an independent nation without provocation after lying to the people and the legislature of his nation in order settle a personal score. Where that war costs the lives of thousands of your sons, daughters, fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters. Where the secret police regularly violate the rights of citizens. Where hundreds of political prisoners are held without being charged with a crime and without access to lawyers or a justice system.

Pakistan Signed Third Peace Deal With Afghan Border Militants
KHAR, Pakistan - Pakistanis living along the Afghan border have signed a third peace deal with the government promising not to shelter foreign militants, residents and officials said Tuesday.
The agreement was signed Monday in the Bajur region of Pakistan’s mountainous border zone. Osama bin Laden’s deputy, Ayman al-Zawahri, escaped a U.S. missile strike in Bajur last year.

TEHRAN, Iran - Iran announced yesterday it was partially suspending cooperation with the UN nuclear watchdog, while hardline President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said the latest UN sanctions would not halt the country's uranium enrichment "even for a second."

Democrats Set Iraq Deadline In War Bill
Senate Democrats on Wednesday revived legislation urging President Bush to bring combat troops home from Iraq in a year, attaching the plan to a $122 billion measure needed to fund the war.

Siberian Mine Blast Kills 106; 4 Missing
Rescuers searching a coal mine rocked by a methane gas blast found the bodies of several more victims Tuesday, bringing the death toll to 106 a day after Russia's deadliest mining disaster in a decade.
Some 200 workers were in the Ulyanovskaya mine in the coal-rich region known as the Kuzbass at the time of the blast, which occurred early Monday at a depth of around 885 feet, emergency and regional officials said.
